When will the school year end?
Online learning will continue through the scheduled end of the school year. Students are expected to continue to work with their instructors to complete courses. The last day for seniors is May 19, 2020; the last day for juniors is May 27, 2020.
What does this mean for grades and learning?
Students should continue to complete their assignments and projects as scheduled by their teachers. As always, if you have any issues or questions, be sure to contact your teacher directly.
Will students still graduate?
Our EFCTS administration and teachers, in conjunction with associate school counselors and administration, will be working together to ensure that students in the Class of 2020 are on track to graduate. Please know we are all working with flexibility in the interest of doing what is right for students.
What about state-mandated testing?
Annual state-mandated academic and technical (webxam) testing for the 2019-2020 school has been canceled by the Ohio Legislature. We will revisit and provide direction for any state credential testing as the information and opportunities become available.
Will students receive their industry credential (ex: STNA) or license (ex: cosmetology)?
State boards and agencies have been working on adjusting state-mandated guidelines in light of this unprecedented pandemic. Each career-tech lab instructor will communicate directly with students and families regarding this matter. We may also consider the possibility of assisting with this during the summer months if permitted by the state and if it is necessary.
What about school events and activities?
All remaining school events and activities are canceled or postponed until further notice.
We will be holding a virtual incoming class orientation on May 7 and a virtual senior recognition ceremony on May 21.
What if I do not have access to WiFi in order to complete the online learning activities?
If you do not have access to internet, please contact your Career Center and they will work with you to provide materials.

Will my child receive credit for their work-based-learning (WBL), apprenticeship or internship experience?
Yes. As long as students have completed their requirements and followed up with their instructors, credit will be given. We are being flexible during this unprecedented situation.
How will EFCTS address my child’s IEP or 504 plan?
We will make a good faith effort to provide services and interventions during this period. If your child cannot access the online instruction platform or having difficulties, please contact Ms. Miller at Fairfield Career Center at email@example.com
or Ms. Huey at Eastland Career Center at firstname.lastname@example.org
to identify the most appropriate means for meeting those needs during the closure period.
How will EFCTS address my child’s mental health and well-being? Will school counseling services be available?
School counselors are available during the school closure and will continue to work with students. We have also created a resource page on our website to address mental and emotional well-being. You may find those resources here: http://www.eastlandfairfield.com/Wellness.aspx
How will EFCTS handle meals?
We will continue to make meals available on each campus on Mondays from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. until the end of the school year.
The last scheduled distribution will occur on Tuesday, May 27 due to Memorial Day. Our associate districts are also offering scheduled meal pick-up times/locations.
How will this impact juniors planning to return for their second year in their career-tech program?
We are moving forward with exciting plans for the 2020-2021 school year. Our soon-to-be senior class are invited to stay connected with EFCTS through social media and our website. Your lab instructors will stay in touch with you over the summer months.
How is EFCTS going to communicate during the final months of school and over the summer?
Although we can never replace the in-person experiences of our labs and classrooms, we will continue to engage our students. We will communicate through phone calls, letters, emails, website, and other social media channels.
How is EFCTS going to help my child still feel connected with their teachers and friends?
While we can never replace the in-person experience of being in the labs and classrooms of our campuses, we will continue to engage our students. Our teachers will remain connected via Canvas and email. Some utilize social media. We also post content on our social media channels and website.
We have also created a video to celebrate the spirit of EFCTS. It reminds us that We are a community. We are Eastland-Fairfield. And we are all in this together. #EFCTSTogether
Will we have an opportunity to pick-up any items in the buildings during this closure?
We understand that students have personal items such as medications, materials in their lockers, etc. and may have library books or other items. We are working on a plan to allow students to pick these items up safely and will communicate those plans when they are ready.
Your email will be returned in a timely manner. For all questions related to your student’s assignments, please email the instructor directly.
