On March 12, 2020, the Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Center was notified by Governor Mike DeWine that all schools in the state of Ohio will be closed effective Monday, March 16, 2020, for a three-week mandatory period as a precautionary measure against the transmission of the coronavirus. We also were made aware today that students and staff members at Fairfield Career Center may have been potentially exposed to a suspected case of COVID-19 off-campus. It is important to note that this is not a confirmed case at this time. The results may not be available for a couple of days. Due to this information, we have made the decision to close our District effective Friday, March 13, 2020-April 3. 2020.
Upon the recommendation of the Fairfield Department of Health, the students and instructors who were in contact with this person should immediately be quarantined for the mandated 14 days or until advised otherwise. Those exposed are expected to stay home and not be out in public. During this period, the Fairfield Department of Health will be contacting the students and instructors directly.
Fairfield Department of Health has advised that the rest of the student body and faculty/staff are not considered at risk.
The closures affect all programming at the school, including before- and after-school activities and weekend events. Our students will continue to receive instruction during this period other than the normally scheduled week of Spring Break (March 23-27, 2020). We will send out further updates on any additional actions or plans as we develop those in the coming days. Please check your emails and our website at eastlandfairfield.com to stay updated.
