Update on April 21, 2020, at 2:35 p.m.
On April 20, 2020, the Governor ordered the closure of all Ohio schools for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. We are working on plans for the rest of the school year, but online learning will continue for juniors (last day of school is May 27, 2020, as scheduled) and for seniors (last day of school is May 19, 2020). Adult Workforce Development will announce their plans soon as it relates to their programs and classes.

Update on April 8, 2020, at 7:30 p.m.
The Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools' Board of Education will be replacing in-person meetings with online board meetings beginning on April 15, 2020 until further notice due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and school closures. The meetings will be broadcast using the Zoom platform. See the information below on how to watch the meetings via Zoom and how to submit comments to be read during the public comments portion of the meeting. CLICK HERE FOR FULL INFORMATION.
 
Update on April 6, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.
Meal pick-ups continue for our students every Monday during this school closure. Meals can be picked up on either campus from 4-6 p.m. on April 6, 13, 20, and 27.
 
Update on March 30, 2020, at 3:20 p.m.
In order to continue to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Ohio, Governor DeWine today issued an order for schools to remain closed through May 1, 2020. More information will be posted this week regarding this extended closure. 

Students should continue to check their Canvas account and work with their instructors during this time. 
 
Update on March 26, 2020, at 2:15 p.m.
 
An additional meal pick-up day  is scheduled for Monday, March 30, from 4-7 p.m. at both of our buildings. During this time, meals will be made available to Eastland Career Center and Fairfield Career Center students.  Meals may be picked up at either location.
 
Update on March 18, 2020, at 11:20 a.m.
 
As a partner with our associate schools, we have worked with them to provide all of their food service and meal information in one place. Students who attend Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools are eligible to receive meals from their associate school district. Please follow the plans of the associate school in which you are enrolled. 
 
PLEASE NOTE: The federal school lunch program requires distribution sites to give meals only to children 18 and under. Each school Is prohibited from providing the food to anyone over 18. There are no exceptions.
 
 
Update on March 16, 2020, at 1:33 p.m. 
Online Instruction
Beginning this week, online instruction will take place via our Canvas Learning Platform. Spring Break is scheduled for March 23-27, 2020, and there will be no instruction during this time. The week of March 30-April 3, 2020, there will be online instruction. Our teachers are charged with creating online lessons and activities to continue the education of all students during this period of time.


Chromebook Pick-Up
In order to complete online learning activities, we will provide students who need one with a Chromebook. 
 

Pick up dates/times: 

  • Between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17th, and 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18th.
Locations:
  • Eastland Career Center (ECC students) on the north side of the building by the Cosmetology doors (follow signage)
  • Fairfield Career Center (FCC students) by the cafeteria walkout doors 
If picking up a Chromebook, students will be asked to review the District Acceptable Use Policy and complete a sign-out form to acknowledge responsibility for the care of the machine. Return dates/times TBD.

If you cannot pick up during these two scheduled times, contact the office at your respective school and make arrangements if you need a Chromebook.

Internet Access
If you do not have access to the internet, please contact your Career Center and they will work with you to provide materials.

You can also reach out to Spectrum during this time period. Charter Communications will offer free Spectrum broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription and at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households.

Special Education Services
We will make a good faith effort to provide services and interventions during this period. If your child cannot access the online instruction platform being offered to general education students then we will consult with parents/guardians to determine the needs of the student and identify the most appropriate means for meeting those needs during the closure period. 

We will in good faith support the needs of students with disabilities during this challenging time being attentive to the health and safety of students, educators and other service providers. 

Food Service
Students may pick up a boxed meal from their Career Center during the following days/times during the week of March 16, 2020:
Between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17th, and 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18th. One boxed meal per student per week.

Additional meals will be announced following Spring Break (March 23-March 27, 2020)
 
Update, March 16, 2020 at 1:31 p.m.
An update on our 23 students and 2 instructors who we learned Thursday, March 12, 2020, potentially may have been exposed to a patient being tested for COVID-19 during their clinical experience. 16 of those students and 1 of the instructors were lifted from their quarantine on Friday, March 13, 2020. TThe remaining 7 students and 1 instructor were also lifted from their quarantine today, March 16, 2020.
 
Update: March 14, 2020 at 9:45 a.m.
All Adult Workforce Development and Aspire classes are postponed from Monday, March 16-Friday, April 3, 2020. 
 
Update: March 13, 2020 at 7:30 p.m.
From Bonnie Hopkins, Superintendent:
"I wanted to provide an update on our 23 students and 2 instructors who we learned yesterday potentially may have been exposed to a patient being tested for COVID-19 during their clinical experience.
 
I am happy to report that we have learned today that 16 of those students and 1 of the instructors have been lifted from their quarantine. This is good news. The remaining 7 students and 1 instructor will be informed soon of their status by the Health Department and we will keep you updated."
