Satellite Program at New Albany High School

Our world has never been more connected, and the demand for securing our networks has never been greater! Become a network security professional and join the fight against cyber-attacks with the Cyber Security program at the Fairfield Career Center. This two-year program is designed around certifications from industry leaders such as CompTIA and Cisco in preparation for the information technology workforce. Students will learn how to design and build computer networks and enhance their security skills. Interested students should have a strong math and reading foundation.

Get a jump start on college with the availability of college credits. College credits are also available through the CT(2) process through the Ohio Department of Higher Education. This program presents the opportunity of accepting transfer credits towards Franklin University’s Associate and Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security. Franklin will also accept College Credit Plus and Advanced Placement courses offered at New Albany toward associate and bachelor's degree.

Get the experience.
Become skilled at network design, in addition to network monitoring and hardening, network penetration testing and physical network security and social engineering awareness. Prepare for certifications such as Network+, Cisco CCENT, and Security+. Test your skills when you design your own network and learn to craft a virtual fortress around your creations.  
 

Skills learned in the program: 

  • Network Design
  • Network Protocols & Network Addressing
  • Network cabling
  • Wireless configuration and security
  • Server installation and configuration, including but not limited to DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Remote Access, RADIUS, and IIS
  • Network monitoring utilizing packet sniffers and a variety of other software tools
  • Network hardening utilizing security features built into Windows Desktop/Server Operating Systems and Cisco IOS as well as through the use of 3rd party software and firewall appliances
  • Network penetration testing utilizing a variety of software 
  • Awareness of network attacks and how the attacks are carried out including varieties of DDoS, password attacks, MAC Address Flooding, DNS spoofing, ARP spoofing, man-in-the-middle, and various other attacks. 
  • Physical network security and social engineering awareness.

Uniform

Students in this program will adhere to New Albany-Plain Local High School's dress code and the program's expectations, per the instructor. Students may also purchase EFCTS spirit wear from the uniform shop.
