Doctor's orders.
Students in the Pre-Nursing program gain an overview of the health care field. They study body mechanics, infection control and blood borne pathogens, legal issues and communication, therapeutic nutrition, personal care, wellness and disease process, phlebotomy, and advanced nursing skills. With this cross-training of skills, students have the opportunity to work as an entry-level caregiver in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals.
Successful students receive the training required by the State of Ohio for State Tested Nurse’s Aide (STNA), American Heart Association (AHA) certifications in First Aid and Certified Patient Care Technician. Options are available to earn a childcare provider certificate and participate in work based learning.
Students interested in this program should have a strong science foundation.
