Eastland Career Center and Fairfield Career Center were among more than 100 schools across the country to be named a School of Distinction by Jostens Renaissance. Both career centers were awarded Silver Distinction for their work towards building a positive school climate and culture during the 2024-25 school year.

The Jostens Renaissance School of Distinction Award celebrates Jostens customers that make a positive impact on school climate and culture through executing the Renaissance Results Formula™. Schools may earn the Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond level distinction by exemplifying how they execute Renaissance practices, collaborate with the Renaissance community, and drive measurable results through recognition and rewards.

Eastland Career Center and Fairfield Career Center were among 140 elementary, middle, and high schools to earn one of the four distinctions. It also marked the first such award for either campus since partnering with Jostens Renaissance. Silver Schools of Distinction completed a minimum of one school climate and culture boosting activity a month from the Jostens Renaissance Monthly Playbook and gathered and tracked the data of one goal.

“There have been many positives that have come from this program,” said Chelsea Osgood, social studies instructor and Jostens ambassador at Eastland Career Center. “The leadership class students really took ownership over trying to promote positive school culture and climate at our campus. They spent considerable time brainstorming projects they wanted to work on, and then experienced the process of implementing their ideas.”

Students at both campuses took pride in organizing a series of activities and events throughout the year, some of which came from the Jostens Playbook and others that were created by the students. That included Senior Sunrise and Sunset, art shows, college workshops, and multiple spirit days. Students also began a uniform donation and recycling center, created a website to recruit juniors into the leadership program, and provided staff room service and appreciation notes.

“These experiences helped our students grow as leaders because they saw how all types of leaders are needed to be successful,” said Osgood.
